TSUGA (Hemlock)

Graceful conifers with slender to horizontal branches and fine textured needles, most hemlock can withstand heavy pruning and prefer moist but well drained soils.  Dwarf varieties are excellent for rock gardens or specimens.
TSUGA canadensis

Canadian Hemlock

Height: 50-75'  Width: 25-35' Zone: 3
A fast growing pyramidal evergreen.  Considered the "Cadillac" of evergreen screening.  Soft green feathery foliage.  This plant fell out of favor with the tremendous losses of plants due to adelgid infestation in the 1980s & 1990s.  Better control techniques and fewer host plant numbers have put this plant back on our list of winners.
