This group of deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs are natives of North America, Europe and Asia. They are commonly known as Snowbells or Storax.

Lovely, bell-shaped fragrant white flowers hang from strongly horizontal side branches that make a splendid broad round crowned tree for patio or near a pathway.  Attractive dark green leaves turn a brilliant red or yellow in fall.  Deciduous.

STYRAX japonicus 'Pink Chimes'

Pink Chimes Japanese Snowbell

Just as lovely as the white flowering form, 'Pink Chimes' bears clusters of pink bell-shaped flowers from May to June.  The leaves are dark green and will turn red in fall then drop to the ground.

STYRAX obassia

Fragrant Snowbell

Height: 15-30'  Width: 15-30' Zone: 5
Starts out in a pyramidal shape and becomes more open with age.  Fragrant, bell-shaped, white flowers are borne on 4-inch to 8-inch long chains.  Flowers dangle from rounded, dark green foliage in late spring, followed by small light brown fruits that usually drop by late fall.
