Magnolias are deciduous trees and shrubs of moderate size with showy blooms.  Many bloom prior to their leaves appearing, which makes them excellent spring accents.

Considered to be among the best of all yellow Magnolias.  Exceptional, rich yellow, non-fading 4-5" blooms perch upright like butterflies upon the branches followed by glossy green leaves.  A spectacular specimen and focal point for early spring.

An elegant, compact and dense flowering tree producing lustrous, leathery foliage that is rich, dark green above and cinnamon brown underneath with an undulating surface.  Large, 5-6" creamy white flowers make their appearance in late spring and are exotically fragrant.  They are followed by 2-3" long fruits.  One of the most popular cultivars.

Dense evergreen tree with bold, lustrous dark green narrow glossy foliage and 8" wide, highly fragrant, creamy white cup-shaped flowers.  One of the cold-hardiest forms for northern climates. A striking specimen tree for large areas.  Keep moist until completely established.  Plant in full sun for best growth and flowering. An elegant tree that grows to 30 feet tall and 15 feet wide.

MAGNOLIA grandiflora 'Little Gem'

 Dwarf Southern Magnolia

A dwarf southern Magnolia with smaller dark green foliage and very compact narrow form ideal for smaller gardens.  The leaves of this evergreen shrub or small tree are rusty-brown on the undersides.  A heavy bloomer, white flowers appear early and again late in summer.  Evergreen.  Moderate growing.

This hardy cross between Magnolia liliflora and Magnolia stellata is an open, deciduous shrub up to 20 feet tall and wide.  It blooms in early spring and sporadically into fall, with goblet-shaped, deep pinkish-red flowers that are 7 to 9 inches long.

A profusion of fragrant 5.5" flowers are shaded deep rose-red and open to rose with a white interior, appear in late April.  Blooms in spring before leaves appear.  Lovely gray bark is set off by large deep green leaves.

Large, fragrant, double white star-like flowers appearing before the foliage in early spring.  Juvenile habit is denser and more upright, whereas mature trees tend to be more broad and open.  Blooms later than Magnolia stellata; useful in areas where late freezes occur.  Leaves are green, after flowers, turning yellow or bronze in fall.  Deciduous.

Sweet Bay Magnolia

A small, graceful tree or large, multi-stemmed shrub with creamy-white, lemon-scented flowers appearing in late spring, often continuing into September.  Handsome red fruits appear in late summer or early fall and attract birds to the landscape.  Dark green leaves are silvery underneath, giving a shimmering effect on windy days.
