These excellent broadleaf evergreen shrubs are good for underplanting rhododendrons as they like the same soil conditions (peaty soil that is moist, but well drained) and because they tolerate a good bit of shade.

Gracefully arching, striking red stems with colorful, mottled leaves.  Showy, pendulous clusters of white flowers provide wonderful contrast in spring.  Effective as hedge, or clip to make a nice ground cover.  Good cut flowers.  Evergreen.  Slow grower.
