Summersweet rules the summer garden blooming from July through August when most other landscape shrubs are past their prime.  Lovely small flowers on fuzzy six-inch spikes complement the dark green leaves.  A true favorite of gardeners and bees.

A compact deciduous shrub with black green leaves that become completely engulfed in 4-6" white blooms.  Excellent summer flowering shrub and extremely fragrant.  Outstanding fall color.  Good in shady and wet areas.  'Hummingbird' is a dwarf cultivar which has a much more compact and spreading growth form than the species. This cultivar will have twice as many flowers than the species

Sixteen Candles Summersweet

Height: 2-3'  Width: 3-4' Zone: 4
This selection is very compact and heavy flowering, and it holds its 4-6" spikes of white, fragrant flowers rigidly upright.  Like all Summersweets, it tolerates shade and damp soil.  Yellow fall foliage color.  Compared to species this shrub is more dense and shorter.
